Chapter 44

~slight backlash ~

Everyone snapped their heads up and looked at you wide eyed as you read the atmosphere and decided it would be a good time to get out of there. you sense anger, pain, sadness and relief, but you figured until they cool down you might wanna stay back. As everyone got on their feet you took off up the tree faster than an Italian could run. You left everyone in your dust as you scrambled up the tree. They all looked at you and saw something in your eyes they didn’t want to see.

And what they saw was fear….

Once they all saw that they all seemed to take a collective breath and calm down, knowing that they had upset you. eventually you started to come down and everyone backed up and gave you space, all of them with an apologetic look on their face. Looking around as guilt set in you smiled softly and opened your arms wide.

There was a moment of silence, for words in that moment weren’t needed. Soon you started tearing up as you kept on smiling as everyone ran towards you.

“I missed you guys too….”

After that touching moment or so, you were swiftly scolded by everyone and forced to explain yourself. You just said you went on a walk and visited some friends of yours, but no one knew who you were talking about. soon after though still a little dark people began to leave, mainly because they were exhausted. So as you were saying good bye to Feliciano and Ludwig, Antonio tapped you on the shoulder.

“hey is it alright if I leave you to talk to lovi~ for me. he seems down.”

“no problem Toni~”

“gracias tomate.”

And with that he walked away and Lovino wasn’t too far behind.

“wait up you-a stupid tomato bastard!”

As he walked passed you, you grabbed the back of his shirt and he turned around, almost angry.

“what-a do you want ragazza?”

“you and I are going to have a chat.”

He tried to protest but you just sat him down and walked away, and he became quiet. You went and grabbed a few tomatoes.

“here have a few you must be hungry.”

He took a few gently and mumbled a small thanks, it was almost as if kindness was foreign to him. As he finished his snack you looked at him and seemed to connect with him almost instantly, you could feel his pain. Taking a deep breath knowing what you were getting into you spoke with caution and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“Lovino, whats wrong…”

He seemed to want to blow up but managed to keep his temper around you. he was holding back and you both knew it.

“why should-a I even bother its not-a like anyone cares.”

You felt like smacking him at this point, you wondered how could he be so blind to the people around him who cared so much. But then you stopped for a moment and thought realizing that’s what you were doing. You had almost stopped caring  and you felt like no one cared either. You knew what this was like and you truly felt sorry for not confronting this sooner. You gave him a small hug. And spoke calmly with a tone that seemed to sooth his rage.

“don’t  be silly, we all care. Especially me, Antonio and Feliciano. So please Lovino, please for me, tell me what’s wrong. I'm sure I can help you with this… I don’t wanna let a friend of mine suffer in silence. So please talk to me…”

He returned the hug gently and calmed down you could almost feel the emotion welling up inside of his heart, you knew something was very wrong.

He took a deep and shaky breath…
